Boating on the River Epte by Claude Monet - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting on Canvas

from $333.00

"Boating on the River Epte" is among the paintings from Claude Monet's series of paintings about the River Epte from 1887 to 1890. Like the other paintings in the series, this one features sisters Suzanne and Blanche, daughters of Monet's second wife. In this particular picture, they are rowing a boat on the river, with the frame intentionally cut, showing only half of the boat with the two girls in it. The framing suggests movement. But what the painting is known for is its depiction of water. As Monet himself described in a letter, he tried to capture the impossible, which is water with undulating vegetation in the bottom. He did so brilliantly not by portraying the reflection on the surface, but focusing on the depth of the water. As a result, the water appears thicker, darker, with just glimpses of what's underneath.

This is an image of the famous artwork. We will hand paint a beautiful reproduction of this masterpiece in the size below.
