Boulevard des Capucines is a painting by Claude Monet. It was among the paintings exhibited by Monet, along with other artists, in 1874. The exhibit was independently launched by the group, which later became the Impressionist artists, in response to the rejection from the Paris Salon and the conservative Academie des Beaux-Arts. This painting depicts an impressionist street scene of the famous Paris boulevard. It is viewed from a distance, from an elevated angle, since the painting was done in the apartment of Nadar, the French photographer, whose room has a view of the boulevard.
