Alexander Ignatius Roche was a Scottish painter and was among the prominent members of the "Glasgow Boys." The Glasgow Boys were a group of Scottish artists that interpreted and expanded the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings. They attempted to capture, through their paintings, the characteristics of Scotland. His famous works include "The Interruption." It depicts a woman reading a book outdoors surrounded by plants, grass and flowers. She's holding an umbrella to protect herself from the bright sunlight. A man from a distance is walking towards the girl, suggesting some sort of romantic interruption.
