"The Girlfriends" is a late painting by Gustav Klimt. Like his other later works, Klimt portrayed homosexual love in this painting. It features two women, presumably lovers. One is fully-clothed, while the other is fully naked. The two women seem to dissolve into the decorative background, which makes the painting highly ornamental and aesthetically pleasing. Sadly, the painting was destroyed in 1945.
