The Triumph of Bacchus is considered as one of the masterpieces by Diego Velazquez. This painting features Bacchus, the god of wine, surrounded by drunks. These drunks wear the clothing of poor people in Spain during that period. They appear to be painted in darker tones, making the half-naked Bacchus easily recognizable. It gives a mythological subject a more local flavour, making the god less god-like and the overall picture less mythological. This painting is also popularly known as The Drinkers, and is currently on display at the Museo del Prado in Madrid.
