Annunciation is a painting attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. However, this masterpiece was painted together with another Italian Renaissance artist, Andrea del Verrocchio. It portrays a scene from Luke 1:26 where the Angel Gabriel, sent by God, announced to Mary that she conceives and will give birth to the son of God. This subject was among the most popular religious portrayals during the Renaissance period; however, this particular painting remains to be one of the most popular up to this day.
