Constantine Maleas was greatly influenced by the works of Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh and from the art movements of symbolism, impressionism and fauvism that he created his own works most likely the same as the works of those who influenced him. Like in the Castle at Monemvasia, there was a touched like Van Gogh in his sky, and the castle in simple forms was more like Paul Cezanne’s works, all he combined in one artwork. He was also attracted of the sceneries around him, that he made the landscape his subject, a place that is part in Greece where all the medieval period walls & churches can be found.
