Supper at Emmaus is a religious painting by Caravaggio. It depicts a scene from the Gospel of Luke, 24: 30-31, where soon after Jesus was resurrected, he shortly revealed himself to two of his disciples in the town of Emmaus. However, in the painting, there are three disciples, two sitting at the table talking with Jesus, and the other standing beside Jesus. They are having supper and talking, the still-life food on the table and the empty dry background. All these are juxtaposed with the liveliness of the subjects and their conversation.
