Vincent Van Gogh painted dozens of self-portraits throughout his short-lived but prolific life. He made these self-portraits by copying his face while facing the mirror. Thus, what one sees is actually the other side of his face. If it's the right, then what it actually is is the left. This particular self-portrait was made in the summer of 1887 and is currently displayed at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
