"The Stonemason's Yard" is an early oil painting by Canaletto. It depicts a temporary stonemason's yard situated beside the Campo San Vidal of the Grand Canal. There are several masons at work. But the figures are too small compared to the vastness of the open face, the unfinished construction, the buildings nearby, and the towering structures across the Canal. It shows an informal picture of Venice, unlike the usual grand depiction of the city.
