Road at St Paul (Var) By Felix Vallotton - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting On Canvas
Felix Vallotton was a French and Swiss painter most known for his association with the La Nabis group of artists. His style was distinctive and the hues he used in his painting were unmistakably his. The 1922 painting "Road at St. Paul (Var)" features a great view of a particular portion of St. Paul, which is only a short distance from Cagnes, where Vallotton stayed for several months from 1921 to 1922. This painting features an old road with a low wall on the left where a woman is leaning. A little chapel is on the background, atop a hill, surrounded by trees, bushes and grasses. The road and the chapel, as well as the other structures, are light-shaded, but the sky is dark and kind of threatening.
