Napoleon Crossing the Alps by Jacques-Louis David - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting on Canvas
The French artist Jacques-Louis David painted five versions of Napoleon Crossing the Alps. Of the five, this one is the most striking and famous. This equestrian portrait was commissioned by the King of Spain and was painted in 1801 to 1805. It idealized the heroic crossing of Napoleon and his army through the Great St. Bernard across the Alps in May 1880. It only focused Bonaparte riding a horse with a dark and striking background. He looks so heroic and his stare is quite fierce. It definitely captures the braveness and strength of one Napoleon Bonaparte.
