The Triumph of Galatea by Raphael - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting on Canvas

The Triumph of Galatea is a fresco painted by Raphael for the Farnesina. This work of art was part of the unfinished open gallery of the building which features a series of Greek mythology subjects. Instead of painting the main story of Galatea in Greek mythology, Raphael chose to depict the scene of the nymph’s apostheosis. In the painting, Galatea is surrounded sea creatures and cherubs. She is riding a chariot made of shell drawn by two dolphins. Other fictures include Triton and a sea nymph. The decorations in the background are also inspired by Roman paintings of the past.
