Ward in the Hospital in Arles - Famous Art - Handmade Oil Painting on Canvas
Vincent Van Gogh had a year-long stay in a hospital in Arles. During such stay, he made numerous paintings of various sorts. Of these paintings, there were only two paintings that depicted the hospital itself. One is the view of the central garden between the buildings, and the other is that of a fever ward titled "Ward in the Hospital in Arles." Van Gogh subconsciously expressed the feeling of confinement and isolation by depicting the ward as something with an exaggerated lengthy corridor and edgy contours. There are patients here and there, forlorn figures in a rather empty ward, attended to by nuns in black and white.
